Tea

In 1559, a Venetian writer by the name of Giambattista Ramusio published Delle navigationi e viaggi (Voyages and Travels), in which he refers to a drink called chai catai in the Far East which is touted as a cure for "headache, stomachache, pain in the side or in the joints."

This was the first introduction of tea to Western Europeans.
