The Crucifixion of St. Andrew by Caravaggio
St. Andrew's Day is the feast day of Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland. It is celebrated on 30 November
as Scotland's official national day.
The
Scottish Parliament voted to make St Andrew's Day an official bank holiday in 2006.
Saint Andrew is also the patron saint of Greece, Romania, Russia and
the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Legend has it that the remains of St Andrew were carried to Scotland at
some point in the 9th century by the monk Regulus and are still buried
in St Andrews. |
