We ship
firm, tree ripened fruit as pictured here. The fruit is
also often prepared as a dessert, in fruit salads. In Asia, fresh guava
slices are often dipped in preserved prune powder or salt. In India it
is often sprinkled with red rock salt, which is very tart. Guavas are
rich in dietary fiber, vitamins A and C, folic acid, and the dietary
minerals, potassium, copper and manganese. Having
a generally broad,
low-calorie profile of essential nutrients, a single common guava (P.
guajava) fruit contains about four times the amount of vitamin C
as an orange. |
Guavas
contain both carotenoids and polyphenols like gallocatechin,
guaijaverin, leucocyanidin and amritoside – the major classes
of
antioxidant pigments – giving them relatively high potential
antioxidant value among plant foods.
You can order our "select" grade of guava and we will send you only
very large fruit (the size of a peach or larger), or, you can our
"economy" grade and get a mixture of small to large sized fruit. Note
that the that the large fruit creates larger spaces between the fruit
and we may use small limes or guava to fill the spaces thereby reducing
movement and bruising. We use the medium and large sized USPS boxes.
