Forager's Cocktails
Botanical Mixology with Fresh, Natural Ingredients
by Amy Zavatto

Sterling Epicure, 2015

Here's a handy recipe book for mixing the fruits  and flora of the great outdoors with a favorite beverage to create uniquely refreshing cocktails.

Divided into the four seasons, the 40 featured concoctions range from a Dandelion Pickle Back in spring to a Home for the Holidays combination of Brandy Alexander with roasted chestnuts. In between are suggestions on foraging for elderflowers, sheep sorel, alache, mulberries, wild ginger leaves and more, such as this advice on gathering wood sorrel for a drink labeled Wood Sorrel Sour:
Forager's Cocktails

"Wood sorrel looks so much like clover that you might have been looking at this prolific grower for years and not realized you had an abundant source of really delicious tea at your feet. What makes wood sorrel stand out from regular ol' green clover is that it has a wee flower that pops up here and there (in delicate soft shades of pink, purple, yellow and white). The other thing about wood sorrel is that it's super lemony tasting."
